This was the “big” winter of 2013-2014 when lake ice uplifted along much of the western Michigan Lake shoreline. Some of the most spectacular ice caves and formations were noticed off of Leelanau County in the Gills Pier Rd area. They were really quite spectacular and attracted a lot of sight seers. There were no serious injuries but people were way too cavalier climbing on these dangerous formations.
