This was the “big” winter of 2013-2014 when lake ice uplifted along much of the western Michigan Lake shoreline. Some of the most spectacular ice caves and formations were noticed off of Leelanau County in the Gills Pier Rd area. They were really quite spectacular and attracted a lot of sight seers. This photo was the blow hole from an “ice volcano” cone. If you got just the right angle 2 walls closed together to give the appearance of a perfect heart with the blue sky showing through.
