Wherever you are in Northern Michigan you are never more than five miles from a body of water and Benzie County is no exception. I can see Lake Michigan from home, my wife and I use a family cottage on Crystal Lake in the summer and my gallery is a block from Crystal Lake. My gear is always with me and I love photographing sunrises, sunsets, startrails, the moon, celestial events, storms and beautiful beaches. There are also a host of other inland lakes, rivers and streams to photograph that are all pure Michigan. Lake Michigan and Lake Superior are two of the largest freshwater lakes on Earth and are beautiful and compelling to photograph. The beaches and dunes are large and numerous and offer an unlimited opportunity for photography especially in the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore that stretches from Benzie to Leelanau County.
